If you would like to check out the UB Green Climate Climate Action Report, it can now be found online here. For a CD copy of the report, please contact the UB Green Office at ubgreen at facilities dot buffalo dot edu or 716-829-3535.
Greenhouse gas emissions per UB community member (students, faculty and staff) have decreased 11.5% between 1997 and 2004, most likely as a result of ongoing energy conservation projects, fluctuations in heating and cooling needs over the course of the inventory, and increases in the number of students during that time period.
Between 1997 and 2004, UB annually emitted an average of 142,917 MT eCO2 . UB’s annual average greenhouse
gas emissions are equivalent to the carbon dioxide emissions produced from over 25,000 cars! The majority of UB’s emissions are from purchased electricity (54%), transportation (includes University Fleet and faculty, staff and student commuters) (24%), and natural gas use for heating (20%). All of these categories involve the combustion of fossil fuels.
